    Hi

I have tried to add a rss feed to a podcast in the settings – feed details – New podcast feed url. But when I look under episodes there are none, am I getting it wrong or why is there no episodes loaded here?

Hi there. The “New Feed URL” is intended to be a redirection of the existing feed URL (which you can view from the “View Feed” link at the top of that page) to a new location. You’d use this only if you were moving your website or your podcast RSS feed to a new location. An example of this would be you using a new domain for your show, or moving your RSS feed to a feed based on a hosting platform. But you don’t typically use this unless you’re moving the feed somewhere else.

To populate the feed normally you’d just want to fill in the Feed Details (Title, Description, Categories, cover image, etc.) and then Save those details. Then when you publish an episode to that Feed it will appear there.

Hope that helps, and if there’s anything else we can do just let us know.

Ok, so to add podcast which I assume is supposed to be displayed on my wordpress site I add new episode, add a description and the url to the podcast mp3 file? Beacuse when I do that and hit preview it only display the description I added, the podcast is not displayed or heard. Am I doing it wrong?

    Hello @magmomod,

You will either need to link the URL if you are self hosting or if you are using our Castos hosting service, upload the media file to the episode before publishing it. The podcasts won’t display if there isn’t a media file attached to the episode.

Hi, the podcast are located at https://www.libsyn.com/, is it then not possible to show that libsyn link but I have to re-upload the podcast to castos?

Yes it’s perfectly fine to use a Libsyn based link there. You’d just enter that media file URL from Libsyn into the Podcast Episode Details area and then that episode will appear in both your /podcast page and your WP based podcast RSS feed.

Is that what you’re referring to?

Well yes, I try to do it like that. I have entered the url to the actual mp3 file containing the podcast on libsyn, but it does now show up?

Can you send us the website and/or episode post URL you’re working with for this?

Sorry, I meant on your WordPress site. What is the domain you’re using and/or a link to the post.

Also if you’re just not getting the player in Preview mode it might be worth publishing the post so you can view it live…in some themes and WP site setups that makes a difference.

The wordpress site is currently only on my local computer. When I tried to publish the page containing the podcast episode it does not show any podcast nor did it show any podcast controls on the page. And when I went back to edit the page the url I pasted in the “podcast file” field was gone?…

Just to clarify, is it or isnt it possible by using your plugin possible to on a exsisting wordpress site add x number of podcasts where a podcast player is displayed along with each episode and where the actual podcast file is located on another host for example libsyn? I have 5 podcasts episodes that I want to display along with a player on my wordpress so that the user can stay on my wordpress and listen to this podcast.

    Hello @magmomod,

Yes, you can add podcasts to your site that are hosted on another server other than your website. The Seriously Simple Plugin integrates with our hosting service Castos. This enables your users to listen from your site, but doesn’t take up bandwidth and slow your site down.

Ok, í cannot get the player to be displayed on the page, is there a tutorial or some screenshoots of how your plugin should be configured to make that happend?

    Hello @magmomod,
You will want to check out our documentation at https://support.castos.com/article/21-setting-up-your-podcast. This provides screen shots to set up Seriously Simple on your site. You will also want to be sure to upload media to the post, otherwise the post will not display.
