Add Standard Piano Keyboard Layout Option

    I really like your plugin. Have you ever thought about adding another keyboard layout option that uses Scientific Pitch Notation (SPN). See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_pitch_notation

    For example, middle C would show ‘C4’ on the piano keyboard and the next tone up is ‘C#4’. Since black keys can be flat or sharp, you can have something like ‘C#4’ and above that on the same black key ‘Db4’ .

    Users, especially on touch screen devices, could just click on the notes matching music they want to play without needing to learn your new piano keyboard layout. It would open the plugin to many more people. You should still keep your current layout for advanced players. A lot of people just want to play simple single note songs.

    Hi @lasvegasdirect,

    I understand about Standard pitch notation and can implement it. However, users who understand SPN should be able to understand what note each key is by simply looking at the keyboard without SPN. The octave highs and lows are also indicated on the top of the keyboard.

    A lot of free music is available in SPN notation. Users who don’t know how to play the piano only need to match the letter they see to the keyboard key. Many people want to play music, but don’t know the actual keyboard key names when they see standard notes, which takes much more skill than just matching key notes to a letter and octave on the keyboard.

    Understood, I don’t know yet if I will address this in a future update, but I will add it to the task list.

    In version 2.3.0, which I just released, I added an option to display SPN on the keyboard. I hope this is helpful.

    Awesome! Is there a way to make SPN the default key indicator?

    Like other setting items, the initial value when the block is inserted cannot be changed. However, if you change the SPN after inserting the block and save the post, that setting will be retained.
