Add support for featured image

    Right now, my theme does not have support for WordPress’ featured image and for this reason, the option does not show up anywhere when uploading media or when editing a post to set the featured image.

    I am planning on changing my theme to a new framework and in preparation, I need to go through my posts and set this prior to switching on the new theme.

    How can I re-enable this functionality in my existing theme?

    Found the solution. Simply add add_theme_support( ‘post-thumbnails’ );
    to functions.php
