Add the URL to driving directions on Google Maps?
-
I enjoy this plugin a lot, but the thing I find lacking in the display of the location in Google Maps is that it doesn’t exactly link to the location page on Google Maps itself.
Before I installed Events Manager, I would post an event’s location address on my WP site by pasting the address, and then adding the words “get driving directions” and link to a simplified URL on Google Maps.
For instance, by linking to the Apple Store in San Francisco, I would first visit its location on Google Maps, click the “Directions” icon, then click the gear in the corner and select “Share and Embed Map”. I would then copy the text of the URL into my WordPress page. The URL would usually take the form of:
https://www.google.com/maps/dir//Apple+Store,+San+Francisco,+1+Stockton+St,+San+Francisco,+CA+94108/
(There would also be some extraneous data at the end of URL query. This data portion can be omitted; the primary URL will still function.)The address would always start with “www.google.com/maps/dir//” (note the two slashes after ‘dir’), and that the actual address is readible in the URL with plus signs in the place of spaces.
So what I would like is for EM to somehow link the address in the Location form and output a URL to Google Maps directions page. I looked into adding this function as an attribute to the location pages, but I can’t find a way to directly link to the location on the Google Maps page itself or to the Gmaps directions feature, as I would prefer.
Can anyone help?
