Add to SideBar?

You say “You can easily put the social icons to your post/page/sidebar/header/footer etc”. All I see is a short code. Is there a php function I can call to add it?

Also, it seems if I don’t save after adding each icon it doesn’t save them all. That would be a bummer for someone that added a bunch and then had to start all over.
