Hi Mika,

First, I want to say that this is an excellent plugin. A must-have for any MultiSite.

I wanted to ask your opinion on the best way to get JMM working with the Users Ultra plugin.

That way that UU works is, the user signs up on the custom UU registration form, which gives them a Membership Package (that they can choose), and an associated wordpress role.

So how can I use JMM’s “Auto-add Users” feature to give my users the same role that they gained when they registered on the UU signup form, instead of setting a default role? And are there any action hooks or anything that I can use during the “Auto-add Users” process, that will allow me to add the user’s Membership Package from the main site as well?

Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

JMM just grabs the list of users from WP, so UU would have to add the role to that … But this sounds like it’s an extra/additional role ?

Membership Packages function like a role, but they are technically not wordpress roles. But UU does give them an official WP Role along with their Membership Package.

So, you’re saying that JMM will get their role from the users list, and automatically give them that role when logging in to one of the subsites?

Right, that’s why. JMM only pulls the roles from the ones that are WordPress roles. That’s how it generates the list.

It uses https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Function_Reference/wp_dropdown_roles to determine what available roles there are for that site.

Just to make sure that I’m understanding you correctly.

JMM will automatically add the user to the subsite upon login, giving them the same role that they acquired on the main site of the network, without them having to choose from a list of available roles, correct?

Look at ‘New user default role” in the first image.

JMM allows per site admins to determine what role new users should have. So if Site A says “All new users will be editors” (which is weird, but whatever) that’s what they are on Site A.

The site admins must pick the role for each site.

Is there a way to modify it so that it gets the role that the user has on the main site?

And if not, how close are you to adding the role selection feature discussed in this thread:

Not very. It’s an interesting idea, but not one I’m super invested in so I’ve prioritized other code I’m working on… Which is kinda how it goes sometimes. I accept pull requests, of course, but the headache is in editing the signup page more than I already have. I was trying to keep this very simple.

Not to mention it changes how the ‘auto register logged in visitors’ aspect works.
