We have a form on our site that creates a Product. However, in order for users to use it properly, it needs a “Vendor” custom field. How can I set that? It doesn’t seem to have a name element. Is there a field name for it like there is for all the standard WooCommerce fields?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello,

Vendor is post_author which is for the underlying post not a field for the product.

    cheers,

    Jamie.

Ah, ok thank you for the response!

So, would you have any idea why, when a user creates a new Product listing at our site (sneakerdummie.com/add-listing) using our form, it does not populate properly? The product is created (appears in the /shop page), but until I go in and edit the Product itself, and click Update, it does not auto populate in the bottom area of our form to Add A Listing. That was a question I posed to the Form creators, but they said there was a Vendor custom field that needed to be generated in order to work with WC Vendors.

Basically, we want the vendor to be able to fill out the top area of the form at sneakerdummie.com/add-listing, then fill out the Listing, and have the Product appear as an item to be added to the Listing at the bottom of that page. Again, this does not appear as an option at the end of the form until I manually go into the Product and press Update.

This may be a question for the theme creators, but I have been spending a lot of time trying to figure this out. Any help you could provide would be much appreciated! Thank you so much.

    Hello,

This is actually the form plugin. They need to allow you to populate the underlying post_author field. I don’t use a custom field for products for this. I’m not sure which form product your using as I created a complete front end in WC Vendors Pro to handle all this kind of vendor interactions.

    cheers,

    Jamie.

I contacted Formidable Forms, and they showed me how to add the post_author. In a newly created product (before going in and pressing “Update”) the author is correctly passed into the post, however it is still not populating properly. Do you have any idea why products still wouldn’t be showing up in the Vendor dropdown, even when the products have the post author set correctly? I appreciate your help.

    Hello,

The vendor drop down in free gets its information from the post_author field. As long as your forms are setting this correctly it should work.

Can I ask why you aren’t using Pro as this is all built in ??

    cheers,

    Jamie.

Ok thanks. I’ll keep looking for solutions. Must be an issue with the theme or the form plugin.

I like Pro a lot, but I’m afraid the only feature we would really need it for would be to create products on the front-end, and the form seemed to do the trick for a lesser price. If it doesn’t end up working, we will definitely consider Pro. I appreciate your responses and help!

    OK

Good luck, Back in the day I was unable to get most form plugins to work which is why I built pro.

    cheers,

    Jamie.
