• One thing i also miss about wordpress.com is the ability to put your stats counter in your sidebar…does the wordpress.com stats plugin have that feature? and if it does, my theme does not support widgets…dis there a html code/template tag so that i can add it to my sidebar.php file?

  • ya, I want to know how to add stats information to sidebar

    *knock knock knock*

    Anybody home?

This isn’t a huge question. Maybe it’s impossible/proscribed. (A: “No can do”.) If it’s possible, very likely it’s pretty simple.

    Nobody?

IMNSHO when stuff like this (totally valid; not rocket science) lingers unananswerd it a) lowers the signal/noise ratio (“SNR”, actually) and b) it lowers participation … nobody likes being ignored/blown off.

On one hand, you seem to be asking if the wordpress.com stats plugin can be placed in your sidebar.

On the other, you state that your blog does not have widgets in which to place the wordpress.com stats plugin, assuming that this can be done.

I cannot answer those questions. What I can tell you is what I have done on my own www.ads-software.com blog. I have not activated the wordpress.com plugin.

All the free 3rd party stats counters that wordpress.com bloggers use can be placed in a text widget and then placed in the sidebar of your www.ads-software.com install.

I chose to do this with Sitemeter (ie. I put it in a text widget in my sidebar), rather than embedding it into the html on my www.ads-software.com blog.

Sorry, no, this is not available at this time.

I’m five months late, but may ask what can one do when the text widget does not allow a script tag, thus no javascript for the counter?

Is there any workaround to this? I’m referring to free WP blogs.

    Thank you in advance

Questions about wordpress.com blogs should be taken here:
    https://forums.wordpress.com

I am so frustrated. All my client asked for was a visitor counter.
I can not find one decent one that is not 3rd party for self hosted word press. I am so pissed off. What the hell. How hard can that be?
Anyone know of a good one or some secret way to find it and install it that I can’t seem to find???
2 hours now I have wasted on this.
