• Hi there. This is the one ability I still need for the webstore that I haven’t been able to figure out on WordPress. I know there are some paid plugins that have this option, but budget is tight. I’m basically wanting to add an extra fee for residential delivery. I figured I could create a “residential fee” role (copied from customer role), and have the fee apply to that role (the fee would apply all the time, even with free shipping). It’s easier that way because I could manually input it instead of making the system try to figure out what’s residential and what’s not. But I’m having trouble figuring the fee part out. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Looks like you are using woocommerce.

If so, I recommend asking at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/woocommerce so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

What if you were to add another residential shipping class? You can then use the ‘woocommerce_package_rates’ filter to alter the passed rates array based on user role. I’m not sure exactly how to alter the array. You do need to enable shipping debug mode to be able to examine the passed array, at least last time I messed with this, which is quite some time ago. Things may have changed.

I hope this helps. If not, t-p’s suggestion would be your best bet. Good luck!
