I’ve been using the plugin for several months without any issue.

Now, when I try to add a new slideshow by clicking on the ‘Add a new slideshow’ button the page reloads, but then simply shows the last slideshow created with all its images, the hamburger icon in the plugin’s search bar briefly changes and spins but nothing else happens.

    No error messages.
    No ‘New Slideshow’ page.
Just the last/most recent slideshow which was created.

I’ve disabled all plugins (except MetaSlider), changed the theme but this has no effect. I’ve tried different browsers, clearing my cache. I’ve tried logging in as a different user. Nothing seems to help.

I should add that other, normal WordPress operations are working as expected.

Is there a limit on the number of slideshows that you can have? (I have c800).

Is there anything else that I can do to help rectify this issue?

WordPress and plugins are all up to date and running PHP version: 7.3.20. Haven’t reached bandwidth limit, or server space limit.

    [EDIT]
I’ve just tried deleting the most recent Slideshow to test if there’s a limit on the number of slideshows and it now defaults to the next newest slideshow.

So the delete operation worked, still can’t add new slideshows ??

  • Hi,

You should see error messages in the browser console. If pressing the “add slide” button opens a new page, JavaScript isn’t working.

Can you take a look here and send us a screenshot?

    Not seeing any errors.

Sorry, I misread the initial issue.

Actually, the “New Slideshow” button doesn’t require JS so you might need to check your PHP error logs to see if anything is showing up there.

    Does duplicate work?

Duplicate doesn’t work. Same thing happens – Page reloads, hamburger briefly spins. Most recent gallery is shown (not duplicated).

Would these be the types of error messages that you’re looking for?

Don’t know if it helps or not but the last Plugin updates were done on the 22-Jul-2020. I’ve added several galleries since then without any issue.

    Hi,

From the error message, what’s cloner.php? All I can find is a relation to this plugin. Are you using it?

I did the same Google search and yes, we do use the ManageWP Worker plugin. But, I can’t see the cloner.php file anywhere. I’m guessing the plugin uses the file when it automatically takes a monthly backup.

If you disable that plugin, does MetaSlider work as expected?

    No, the issue persists ??

I’m wondering if that cloner.php file is ‘stuck’ somehow?

The last backup by this plugin was timed at 2020-07-28, 02:01:41

It would depend on how it’s being loaded. Usually disabling a plugin will stop all it’s functionality but they may have added something extra.

Have you tried disabling other plugins?

If this was an issue with MetaSlider specifically there would be lots of people here to let us know about it. It’s safer to assume there’s a conflict with some other code running on the site, which usually comes from a plugin or your theme (and unfortunately sometimes a hosting company injecting functionality onto your website)

As stated in my original post, I’ve disabled ALL plugins except MetaSlider and switched to a WordPress Twenty20 theme. The issue persists.

I’m tempted to clear the log file and see what happens. Maybe the error message will return, maybe it won’t?

    Hi,

Can you confirm that includes all drop in and mu plugins? Can you take a screenshot of the top part of the plugins page if you’re unsure?

    (@-q--1)

    Here’s the screenshot

Not sure what drop-in plugins are?

The only must use plugin is:

    Health Check Troubleshooting Mode
    Version 1.7.1

Interestingly, Site Health reports 2 MU plugins:

    Health Check Troubleshooting Mode
    Version 1.7.1
