adding a page to a one page starter template and making the menu work

Hi,
I am using a starter template that is a one page website with jump links. I want to add another page for a blog – I’d rather it be a different page than the main part of the website (I think). My problem is that while I can easily add the page and add the page to the menu, once I’m on the blog page, clicking the menu items in the sticky header of the blog page doesn’t bring me back to the main page of the website. What am I missing? This doesn’t seem like it should be difficult.
