Adding a Pop-up project viewer

Hello all,

I’m setting up a portfolio theme. I’d like to have it set up so the visitor can click on a project and have a case study viewer pop-up with text and images and 1,2,3 type buttons that allows the user to quickly flip through images. Or similarly, have the 1,2,3 in the main loop and when a user clicks on one it would open up an image viewer.

I’m not a programmer, but can figure things out if I have something to start with. So I would like to see some WP examples of something like this in action to get me headed in the right direction. Are there any themes like this out there? Specifically, the pop-up and viewer code?
