Adding a site to a Linux based server

  • Hi guys,

    I’m a start out web designer making websites for clients on WordPress. One of my clients I am creating a website for wants the website to be hosted on his Linux server he has. I’m not too familar to server side lanuage and was wondering if someone could answer a few queries for me.

    1. Can a WordPress website be uploaded to a linux server?
    2. Is this a complex task? By which does it require knowledge in Linux langauge.
    3. Is their any support documents someone could point me towards to undertake this task?

    Finally, It was a previous developer who had access to this server and built a previous website hosted on it. What information do I need from him to access this server?

    1. Totally, WordPress just needs PHP and MySQL, which you’ll run under Apache or Nginx on the server. Personally, I prefer Linux servers, and most of our documentation was written with a Linux server in mind.

    2. No different than building a WordPress site anywhere else.

    3. Do you have access to a hosting provider’s control panel, cPanel, WHM, etc?
