Adding a Splash Page to an Adult WP blog…

  • I have a WP blog that is adult-oriented. I’m thinking maybe I should have a splash page that is an Adult Warning Enter/Leave type page. How is this done without making the splash page my domain name home page? In other words, I still want mydomain.com to be indexed with all the relevant content and keywords, not get the splash page indexed.

    Also, is this even necessary if the domain name makes it obvious that it’s an adult site?

    Yes, in the U.S.

    Well…. I’d talk to my attorney first. THEN I’d worry about things like splash pages. But your attorney is the one who’s (supposedly) going to know what you need to do as regards US statute.

    [[NOTE PLEASE: I’m not averse to adult sites personally. I’m simply saying that this can be a major can of worms, and starting with legal rep is absolutely the best, safest thing you can do.]]

    Each one who is serious working in the adult biz has a warning page for the site/blog. You should also label your whole website with one or more familyfilter (ICRA, Net Nanny …).

    If you are living in US, never use words like l*o*l*i*t*a or y*o*u*n*g g*i*r*l in your text or keywords. That′s a great “NONO!” in the biz. No nude content on the warning page. You should also read this article about the new 2257 regulations in US.

    To keep your keywords just put some text/description on the warning page (maybe your meta description).

    It’s actually not an adult site in the typical sense. YOu can see it if you wish at SexRobot.com. But it is naughty.

    But still, I haven’t heard how to do the splash page.

    Thanks Evita. I’m aware of how to do the static home page, but would that not screw up my SEO I’ve built for my home page now, which is just https://www.SexRobot.com?
