adding a splash screen to a theme

Thanks esmi – I’ve done this already, however I can’t work out how to clear the header and footer from the splash page (front-page.php file).

I just want to be able to embed a video on the splash page, with an enter link and no navigation menu or header. Any tips?

Sorry, I meant I don’t want the header or footer to show on the splash page, just the content of the page.

I literally just want to be able to embed a video on a blank page with nothing else on it. Sorry if I’m not quite understanding!

Yes – and if you combine that with a custom front page template, you can have a page that looks completely different from anything else on the site.
