How to I add a tagline for my blog if I didn’t set one up at the beginning?

I’ve gone under options-general and added it to the tagline section and updated it but it’s not showing up on the blog.

From the codex i know it should be in the form of
<?php bloginfo(‘description’); ?>
but I don’t know which file its in. I’ve added a theme. I’m assuming once I know where it is I just have to change ‘description’ to my tagline?

Login to your Admin panel and then go to Options.

As I said, I’ve tried that and it hasn’t worked. Do you know which particular file the code is at that i have to modify to get this to work?

Open your theme’s header template (header.php) then put it somewhere like <div id=”header” >

I tried that and it didn’t work. Is this the right code I’m using? I did it on the template header.php page and here’s the code i tried first

The tag <?php bloginfo('description'); ?> should be used as it is, it will return the content of the tagline box in your admin panel. You don’t need to anything else to it to use in your template.

got this error message when i did on home page

any other ways of doing so?
