    Hello,

I’ve read the other posts regarding updating functions.php with special code to manipulate the email that I receive when someone sends a new order in order to have the Additional Field I’ve created sent within the email body/subject line/anywhere. I just have a simple additional question on my checkout “How Did You Hear About Us” which is a question on the checkout. I just want that question and answer to appear on the new order email when I receive it. I see when I am in the checkout tab of settings in the email sub menu, there is an email settings box in which you can “customize and manage the checkout fields” but its all greyed out (I am assuming this is that premium checkout plugin”. Do I really need to hire a developer just to get one simple field added to my email notification that I have a new order? I read the woo commerce article that specifically relates to almost this exact same field, but I could not figure out how to make it happen on my own. I purchased the WooCommerce Email Customizer, but I am thinking this only allows me to customize the customer email rather than the admin email? Do I need to cancel this plugin (just purchased 10 days ago) and swap out for the custom checkout manager plugin? I know how to access and edit all of my php files, but know nothing about hooks or things like that. It would be awesome if I could just use a merge code in the subject line or a merge code in the additional content box next to “congratulations on the sale” – but it appears only select placeholders are available. My Field ID: 0, Field key: #additional_myfield1, Label: “How Did You Hear About Us?” – I just dont know how to edit the code to get this field to be printed on my email. Thanks in advance.

    Hi there,

While I’m not sure which plugin/code/article you’re using to add that field on the checkout page, it sounds like this field is not being added to the order notification emails being sent (either through an email template override OR through the hooks available in those templates).

The email customizer plugin (assuming it’s the one on WooCommerce.com) is only focused on the design aspects and would *add* content to any of the emails. With that said, I recommend the following:
