Adding an Image fails, should be SO simple.

That looks to be a custom button from a plugin or theme, inside the classic editor block.

I don’t know if you meant to use that, but you should be able to add images using the image block (there is likely an image icon in the right hand corner at the bottom of your text there), does that help any?

I cannot for the life of me find a way to put in an image and wrap text around it. Not an image BLOCK – an image within a block.

Why don’t they just admit the fail and deepsix this monstrosity? OR JUST MAKE IT A PLUGIN FOR THAT 2% who embrace it.

I mean seriously, we’re all going to look back and laugh and say “Remember GUTENBERG? BAHAHAHAHHAHAAAAA!”

Seems I also Wasted ages on something that is now not possible (unless you start with the Classic editor and convert to GB)

It the main thing clients do in their editor. I thought I might try to record a positive video to help them move over. This alludes me as yet.

Just as an example, I did create a quick mockup with a wrapped image that can be looked at, it uses the default paragraph blocks, but the concept is the same with any block you’d like to use.

Thank you, Marius – that’s very helpful. I probably am going to advise that most of my clients disable Gutenberg, however. I can’t do training for hundreds of people when I’m working to develop new sites.

*HOW* do we ADD AN IMAGE BLOCK???

I’m afraid that’s not an option (at least not at this time), but adding an image block before/after and using the float left/right options would wrap text from preceding/following blocks around it.

In gutenberg I can only hit enter and add another text block. I click the gear–no new blocks or images. I click the three dots anywhere and everywhere on the page–no new blocks or images to insert.

In order to get this post done I’ve deactivated and deleted the gutenberg plugin and reactivated the classic editor where a fundamental tool exists, easily accessible–where one can INSERT AN IMAGE.

WordPress is becoming like Microsoft where users are now beta testers.

This is SO frustrating. WHY HIDE the ability to INSERT MEDIA?

GO right now and google this phrase:

“Insert media WordPress gutenberg,” or search for anything like it. No useful results–EVEN in this support forum.

When you go to the Gutenberg page and search for “image” you get two results and neither one of them is a HOW.

And after clicking around the post a while I could not find any way to insert ANY type of block.

I’m sorry you didn’t get the answer you had hoped for in another users thread, please feel free to open your own topic in the future, it avoids a lot of noise in the topic owners inbox.

You can insert images (or any other block) by clicking the + sign, to the left of your block, in the top left corner of the editor screen, or by using the /image text shortcut (starting any block with a / gives you access to a quick-access panel).

I’m closing this thread, just to avoid any further derailments, if you’re still unhappy with the response I welcome you to create your own thread.
