• Hey there. Sorry for what is probably an easy question…

I have a badge I want to put onto the bottom of my site’s home page. It was given to me as HTML code and I have no idea how to put it up.

I looked in the forums and could not find anything that helped.

    Thanks!

  • A little more information may be helpful …

What is this “badge”? Is it an ad, or an image only, or something else?
Do you want it just on the home page, or at the bottom of all pages?
There may be a theme related component to possible solutions as well …

… or it may just be simply adding an appropriate widget.

It’s just an image. It’s a badge I received for an award I won from another site, so it may link back to the site that gave it to me, but I’m not sure. I was just given a page with a whole bunch of code and they just said to copy and paste it.

I was thinking just my home page to put it on because I’m not sure how it would look on all the pages. I just want it on the bottom because that’s where my free space is.

Here is my site so you can see for yourself…

I see what you mean by having “space” at the bottom of your pages. If I may suggest my plugin BNS Corner Logo.

Visit my home site and look in the bottom right corner to see it in action, as you scroll the image stays in place in that corner (optionally any corner). Perhaps it will work for you, you will just need to fill in the blanks from the information (“code”) on the page the award presenter gave you.

OK, thanks. I will try that out. I can just put it on one page or does it do it on every page?

It will appear on all pages that uses the widget area you place it in, which means in most themes it will appear on every page.

I tried it but it is not working. Maybe I’m not entering the code I was given correctly?

This is what I was given. Am I suppposed to include the entire thing or just part of it?

    <table cellpadding=”0″ cellspacing=”0″ width=”124″><tr><td width=”124″ style=”padding:0 !important; margin:0 !important” valign=”bottom”><img border=”0″ src=”https://static.weddingwire.com/static/images/badges/BCA-2010/BCA-logo-top.gif&#8221; alt=”2010 Bride’s Choice Awards – Wedding Photographers, Wedding Cakes, Wedding Venues & More ” style=”display: block !important;padding:0 !important; margin:0 !important” /></td></tr><tr><td width=”124″ style=”padding:0 !important; margin:0 !important” valign=”top”><img border=”0″ src=”https://static.weddingwire.com/static/images/badges/BCA-2010/BCA-logo-bottom.gif&#8221; alt=”Weddings, Wedding Planning, Wedding Websites, Wedding Checklists” style=”display: block !important;padding:0 !important; margin:0 !important” /></td></tr></table>

    Try using the following settings:

See how that works for you …

    Does not work.

The plugin is pretty much a fill in the blanks process. I used the information above and it shows the graphic fine.

In what way are you finding it “does not work”?

    Thread Starter Danylo

    (@danylo)

It does not show up on the site. It looks like I did nothing at all.

It appears the theme on your website does not make use of a sidebar which may be affecting the functionality of the plugin.

I can see the plugin is activated in the page source(s) but I do not see the code to display the “logo” … I’m sorry this solution is not working for you.

What if I just grabbed a jpg of the image from somewhere and uploaded it onto the server? Would I be able to do something with that instead of just a link?

Without really looking into the theme you are using my first thought, now, would be to edit the theme template file(s) and insert the “award” code.

Your idea of using “a jpg of the image” may work but would also most likely require editing the theme template file(s) as well.

How hard would editing the templete be. Is it something I canjust cut and paste or is it something that if I did not do it properly would screw up the site?

For the most part you could cut and paste. It could screw up your site…. it may also require additional styling…. to position it just right…

    Again…its all totally theme dependent.

The main thing is, if you are going to play around, make a backup of any file you edit first….then if you can’t figure things out, you can revert to your original file
