• I have a photo gallery section of my website. It is set up kind of like Wikipedia, with each photo having its own page and with interesting facts about the subject of the photo. What I would like to do is allow visitors to comment on the page, suggest additions to the information, or point out errors. I have enabled Comments, but it is tied to my hosting service (1&1) and requires that people be logging into a 1&1 account to post a comment. Here is a page where I enable comments (scroll all the way to the bottom and look for “leave a reply”)

Can some suggest a better way to accomplish what I want? A plugin perhaps?

If this is something blocked feature by your hosting provider, then you need to contact them to solve this issue.

Moreover, if this WordPress side issue, head over to Settings > Discussion. Then check the following options and save your settings:

    1. Allow people to post comments on new articles (Enable this)
    2. Users must be registered and logged in to comment (Disable this option)
    3. Comment author must have a previously approved comment (Disable this as well)

Let me know if this worked.

    Hi,

I actually prefer Disqus. I’ve been sharing comments on Disqus platforms for years. I just started implementing it on some new static generated website projects I’m working on.

I think setting it up on WordPress should be pretty easy too. I like how you have more autonomy and it makes sense to offload this kind of work to a specialty service provider (to me anyway). The Basic plan is free.

    Good luck!

Thanks, man! That worked great. Can you tell me if there is a way to edit the title? Right now it says “Leave a reply”. I would like it to say, “Have a Suggestion to improve this page? Post it here for consideration!” Or something like that.

BTW I am using the VANTAGE theme

Wow! Been doing some searching on how to change the “Leave a Reply” thing. Something so simple is way overly complex in WP. Why is WP so hard to use? It’s like whoever write the code for WP has lost all touch with normalcy and reality. To change a simple line of text take a page of coding, if it is even possible. Good grief! Just forget it. It is too much trouble.
