    Typically your homepage is your blog on a lot of themes by default. If you want to create a static homepage, you will need to create a page, call it home, add the content there. And if you still want a blog index page, you will create a page and name it blog, then just save it as a blank page.

    Now go into settings > reading
    Where it says “front page displays”
    Click on “a static page”

    The select the page “home” from the front page drop down
    And blog for your posts page (or leave it as is if you aren’t doing a blog.)

    There’s two ways you can do this. In wp admin go to general – reading and set page or post to show on home page, select No posts you’d like to show, etc, check here how i did it: [link removed: not relevant]
