Adding coupon field to particular selection

Is there a way to apply a coupon code to a particular drop down selection? I added a coupon/discount, but it automatically adds the field at the end of the form, and doesn’t allow me to apply it to a selection like it does with all other fields. Just curious if this is even possible.
