Adding currencies (e.g. crypto)

This is, I guess, both a suggestion and a question; could a way be added to the admin dashboard to add currencies, such as the many cryptos that appear? In the meantime is there a way to do so without editing the core Options file, such as a function to add to the child theme functions? As it stands I have created a custom field, but I have had to make a lot of css and template alterations to get it to display as I want, and it would be a lot cleaner (and easier for future users) to have some other way. Thanks and I hope you can oblige in some way.
