Adding custom settings to the image overlay block

Is it possible to extend the image overlay block with a custom parameter? I’d like to add an additional select field to allow the user to select an option that would add a specific class to the container.

I saw this post https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/extending-kadence-blocks/#post-11468494 and have not tried that method yet as it is two years old and may have changed.
