• I am restarting my podcast after a hiatus, and while I was on hiatus, my hosting expired and my website was deleted. My media hosting at Blubrry.com was not interrupted, though, so all of my media is still where it always was.

The problem is this, I don’t have a backup of my website to restore from, and while I do have a copy of my RSS feed as an XML file, I’m not sure how to start my website up again and get my pre-existing RSS feed in place so that our fans can get to all of the old episodes with their original posting dates, etc.

Is there a way to restore the RSS feed manually? Am I making this too hard?

I was using PowerPress before and intend to continue doing so, but considering the lapse in hosting I’m confused as to how to proceed. Any help would be very much appreciated.

My site (still not set up at all due to not knowing how to proceed with the RSS feed) is https://fifthagepodcast.com

    The media is hosted here:
    https://blubrry.com/fifthagepodcast/

I can also post a copy of my RSS feed if that’s useful.

    Thanks,
    Dan

There is an RSS widget that allows you to add the URL of an existing feed.

There are also RSS feed plugins, but I would start with the widget and see if that works for you.

Thanks for the quick response! I wish that would work for me, but unfortunately, there is no existing RSS feed. I have the XML, but you can’t pull it from anywhere online currently. It was hosted at my original website and isn’t available. Is there a way for me to take the XML I have saved and put it somewhere and then have PowerPress continue from there?

    Hopefully my question is clear.

Maybe your answer does work for me, but I don’t understand how to recreate the feed so I can use the plugin you’re suggesting?

There is a RSS Importer in the Tools menu, but I just tried it on a test site and got a fatal error. It might work for you though.

There are actually 2 RSS importers in my tools menu, one of which isn’t tested with the current version of WordPress, and the other of which WORKED!! Or at least it seems so. I’m just about ready to put my eggs in this basket. I’m trying to figure out how to change where the RSS feed lives. I want it to be at: https://fifthagepodcast.com/feed/podcast/

as it was before, but it is automatically at:
    https://fifthagepodcast.com/?feed=podcast

I’m not sure what the right way to proceed is, but in any case I’m partway there. The other thing is that my feed doesn’t validate at
    https://castfeedvalidator.com/?url=https://fifthagepodcast.com/?feed=podcast

I get an error parsing my XML, which is a little weird to me considering that I got it from my old feed which worked fine?? I’m honestly not sure I ever validated it before, though, so maybe it’s invalid but not in a way that matters.
