Adding existing WP documents to WP-filebase database

I see that the default location for files is wp-content/uploads/filebase, but I’m wondering if I can index files previously uploaded (e.g. wp-content/uploads/ without ‘filebase’).

This would be very handy since we have many files we have already uploaded, and are trying to use WP-filebase to help index them.
