Adding Extra Services to Memberships?

    Hi everyone!

    I hope this message finds you well.

    I am currently setting up a membership site using Paid Memberships Pro, where I offer two main membership levels: a monthly and an annual subscription. As part of the membership, users are allowed to register one vehicle. However, I would like to give members the option to add a second vehicle to their profile for an additional monthly fee (e.g., €9.95/month).

    I am trying to achieve the following:

    1. Allow members to add an “extra” service (such as a second vehicle) to their existing membership with a recurring monthly fee in addition to their base membership.
    2. Provide this option within the member’s profile or during the checkout process.
    3. Ensure the additional charge is included in the recurring billing for their subscription.

    Could you please guide me on how to implement this feature with Paid Memberships Pro? Specifically:

    • Is there a native way to offer these types of paid “extras” in PMP?
    • If not, would you recommend any third-party plugins or customizations (e.g., using WooCommerce or custom fields) to accomplish this?

    Hi there, thank you for reaching out to the Paid Memberships Pro team.

    There’s a few ways you could approach this use case however if I’d recommend deciding if you’re primarily using Paid Memberships Pro to process payments or using Paid Memberships Pro to restrict access to content (if at all).

    If you’re only using this for a payment process, I would suggest using WooCommerce + WooCommerce Subscriptions to sign up for different products.

    You can use the Paid Memberships Pro WooCommerce Integration to give members access to content when purchasing a specific product as well (https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/add-ons/pmpro-woocommerce/)

    If you’d like all of your payments to be processed through Woo and want to keep it all under the same functionality, you could either:

    1. Create multiple levels and treat them as a 1 Vehicle Plan, 2 Vehicle Plan, 3 Vehicle Plan etc, and Prorate the membership cost when upgrading or downgrading the level. More information on the Proration Add On can be found at https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/add-ons/proration-prorate-membership/. Membership levels have recurring payments built into them.
    2. If members need to purchase an initial membership, you can use our Add On Packages Add On (https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/add-ons/pmpro-purchase-access-to-a-single-page/) which members can use to purchase a post or page however this only supports once off purchases.
    3. Explore the Group Accounts Add On (https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/add-ons/group-accounts/) initially designed to buy ‘seats’ for other members and let them sign up, you can use those ‘seats’ as ‘vehicles’ and let them checkout for x amount of vehicles.

    There are many moving parts to a membership site and just as many different ways your requirements can be achieved. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out.
