• Afternoon everyone,

Taking over website and not 100% comfortable with WordPress so wanted to vet my process before I do something wrong.

Current site has no front-page.php or home.php files only index.php. I’m wanting to add both a front-page.php and home.php.

Front page will be for home screen (https://www.buildinghunter.com) and home.php will be for where posts are located (https://www.buildinghunter.com/blog).

If I’m looking at template hierarchy correctly, I simply need to copy the index.php file twice. Rename one front-page.php and one home.php and I’ll be done.

    Is that correct?

Then I could edit home.php file to affect https://www.buildinghunter.com/blog page.

    Am I understanding this correctly?

    Thanks for helping me out!

  • Yes, you have got that correct! That’s exactly how the template heirarchy works.

There’s really nothing more that I can add.
