• tl;dr Google doc appears broken when viewed in recent posts.

I have been creating documents in google drive. These documents consist of a brief introduction followed by tables, usually 7×5.

I then download the file as a .html

Open the file in a browser and copy the source code

I then paste the source code in the ‘text’ tab in a new post.

When I view the post it looks perfect, but then when I go to my homepage which is currently set to show recent posts, the post looks completely broken. The CSS isn’t the problem as I can see the colours have come through, but the structure of the table is all messed up and words are all over the place.

Any idea why it looks ok as a post, but won’t display properly on the recent posts page?

  • Pasting HTML from another source into your Posts rarely works. You have to know exactly which bits to paste and which bits to omit.
