• I’m planning on installing a wordpress intranet, and would like to know if there is a plugin, which would allow me to paste a pre-written list of usernames and passwords (all the with default level of access).

Primarily I would like to be able to add around 30 users simultaneously, however I’m thinking of developing an intranet blog for my college, which would require me adding 100’s of users in one go….

Any suggestions would be great – I can add users via phpmyadmin, but have notice the passwords are all encrypted within the database, so this wouldn’t work…

No one got any answers to this? :S

Try this — I’ve used it for several sites. I am big fan of Dagon Design’s plugins — they are well-designed, flexible, well-documented, and upgraded frequently.

    Import Users Plugin for WordPress

Read the documentation carefully. It will automatically generate random passwords and send them to users. (I know you wanted to supply predetermined passwords — you may be able to hack the code of the plugin to do this. I don’t think it’s a ready-made option, at least in the versions I’ve used.)

If it works for you, this is a developer that I would encourage anyone to make donations to — he really makes great plugins. (I have no relationship whatsoever except that I’m a fan.)

Actually, about a month ago, a user here named Progresst apparently wrote a mod of the Dagon plugin I mention above that allows you to import predetermined passwords as well. Take a look at this thread:
