adding icons – extension for Social Icon Links plugin

Tried different ways to get displayed in all pages a Google+ icon. I managed to add it to the header but, although the link works in all pages, I cannot get the icon displayed but in the homepage -just the href text ‘Google+’ is shown in the rest of my pages. What do I have to do?
