  • I would suspect that your theme is built to use the first image attached to the post as a thumbnail image under the title. Your issue isn’t so much a WordPress issue as it is a custom theme issue.

From the post edit screen, when you upload the image, try just saving the image instead of inserting it in to the post. It’ll still be attached to the post ‘under the hood’ so your theme should pick it up, but it won’t display on the post edit screen.

If you go to Media>Library you can see what images are attached to what posts. An image can be attached to a post without displaying in a post.

I have tried that. Even if I just use http:/www.pastormarkmitchell.org/images/left01.jpg with image tags it still shows the image twice in the main post.

Go to the HTML tab on the post edit screen and remove any reference to the image on the post. The theme should still pick up that the image is attached from information in the DB and display it.

Otherwise, it isn’t really a WordPress issue, you’ll need to touch base with the theme designer.

Since the latest upgrade there is no html tab.

It would have been your theme that removed the tab, it’s always there in a standard WordPress installation. Sounds like you really need to contact your theme designer.
