I’m trying to set up tags for my forum based on a glossary which has 3,000 terms. However, at the Taxopress settings for Auto Terms, it warns: “(Warning, this option can increases the CPU consumption a lot if you have many terms)” if I choose to use all terms in the Topic Tags taxonomy.

Would uploading 3,000+ topic tags and switching on Auto Terms for topic tags be a disastrous idea?

    Hi @zee300

    Thanks for using TaxoPress.

3,000 should not be a problem, but this does depend on your server.

If you have a $5 per month plan with a shared host, this is more likely to be a problem.

If you see any issues, you can safely disable this feature again.

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot soon.

What would it affect – would it mean that users creating new topics would experience a long wait time? Or would topic pages load slowly? Or something else entirely?

If it does create issues, do I just increase my server RAM?

@ellisat Yes, your admin pages may slow down if you ask too much of the server. Increasing your RAM would probably solve it.
