I am trying to create my first website using the twenty twelve theme, but when I add a photo via the “add media” button on my blog page it appears to work but then does not show up when I view the page.

What page? In your Media Library or on the front end of your site?

As I mentioned, I’m a beginner so I may not describe things accurately, but here goes. I was able to successfully insert images on my static front page, using both the primary and secondary widget areas. I was also able to successfully insert an image on the main sidebar using an image widget. The problem is trying to add an image to a page other than the front page. On those pages, including what I hope to be my blog, I selected default template under page attribute (I assume that is correct) and the text works well. When I try to edit that page and click on the add media button I can access the photo I want and seemingly successfully insert it. That is, it shows up as long as I am looking at the edit page, but when I preview the page it is nowhere to be found.

Can we see a publically accessible page that contains one of these “missing” images?

Yes. How do I accomplish that? I currently have an under construction plugin activated since I am just beginning to work on the site and it’s not ready for public viewing. Do I need to deactivate that so you can see it?

    Yes – you do.

    OK. It’s deactivated.

The Effortless Golf Blog page includes a “missing” image (that I can see if I try to edit the page).

We do not know where your site is… ??

As far as I can see, there is no sign that you have actually inserted any images into that page. There are, however, signs that you are pasting in content from elsewhere – which is never a good idea.

What do you mean when you say I am pasting in content from elsewhere? What content are you referring to?

Are you referring to the use of quotes?

I’m referring to the use of deprecated <i></i> tags. They were not added by/via WordPress.

Now I get it. I should write my text directly into WordPress rather than paste it in from my Pages word processing program. Is that what you mean? As far as the media problem, I read that it could be resolved by editing the config.php file, but I was reluctant to try that since I am new to all of this.
