    Hi Raygun

I’m usually pretty quick on the uptake with this, but I’m struggling with trying to figure out how I create a slideshow using media that I have ALREADY uploaded to the library.

There does not seem to be a way, that I can discover, to select media and publish it in a post/page using the shortcode [portfolio_slideshow]

If you have a video explaining how to do this, or a particular link, can you point it out to me as I haven’t found the necessary answer to give this plugin a proper trial of evaluation before moving to pro.

    Thanks
    Tim

  • I’d like to do the same thing. Doesn’t seem to be an option. I’ve just been uploading new media, but it does create considerable duplicates in my media library…

What works for me — albeit slowly — is to click on Upload and Manage Images in the Portfolio Slideshow box. In the Media Library tab, click on Show next to the photo you want to include. I copy and paste each image’s URL from the Link URL line into the Portfolio Slideshow Slide link URL line. Then I click Insert into Post. Then I Save Draft, and poof! The thumbnail of the photo shows up in the Portfolio Slideshow metabox thingie. Sorry for the imprecise terminology, I’m new at this — and I hope it helps! I’m having to do this for a 34-photo slideshow, so I hope there’s a nicer workaround to this in future updates ??

Yes, I’m also struggling with this seemingly easy thing to do!

Me too. Thanks for the tip dallasdiva.

I like this plug-in although incorporating it into a site that already has a library full of images is a bit frustrating if the only way to get it to work is re-upload all of the images or a workaround. Am I missing something?

    Thanks!

    Same problems, i.e.,

    • can’t manage to modify or add to existing set of images in a particular slideshow.
    • don’t have a link to “slideshows” in the dashboard menu, as I see illustrated in the videos.
    • This instruction “Be sure to save your changes in the gallery uploader, then click ‘Save Draft’ to update this page for further instructions.” does not apply to this version. There is no “save draft.”

Update to yesterday’s post, here’s what I’ve figured out:

    • can call slideshow from a different page, but can’t exclude/include images from diff page’s set
    • if you want to have same image in different slideshow, need to upload multiple times and attach to diff pages
    • exclude/include only works for images attached to that page
    • manage position in slideshow from parent (where they are attached) – can drag/drop or renumber
    • random order is not an option
    • Continue to struggle with some images refusing to show up in slideshow, though they appear if placed directly as img.

Wish I could edit my previous posts! I just found this in another thread re: randomize”

    • Add “random=true” to shortcode

Also that this may not work until cache is cleared

I too can’t use exiting images – I always have to upload an image, even if it is already in the Media Library.

I am now closing this 12 month old topic as it references an older version of WordPress.
