Adding more than one category to featured posts slider?

  • How can I add more than one category in a theme to display posts in the featured posts section slider?

    I tried the goodtheme Lead and the matino theme. Both have an option to show featured content but allow for only one category to be featured. For e.g. posts from only TRAVEL. I want to display posts from multiple categories (like travel, cuisine, culture e.t.c.) (actually all the latest posts in the slider)

    Is that possible?
