Adding my own template files – is it update safe?

    what happens if an update for the dark theme is available and i have added new templates (e.g. page-whatever.php or archive-whatever.php) Will these files deleted or overwritten or they are safe?

    If you added your changes in honeypress parent theme.
    Your all changes will lost. If you want to prevent lost of changes you need to create a child theme and add your template file in child theme.

    Hi,

    this is not possible because the dark theme i am using is always a parent theme. I can’t create a parent from a parent theme.
