Adding nav submenus to theme

  • Hello,

    I am building a WordPress theme for my blog from scratch. Everything is going well so far, but since I’m coding it from scratch, I don’t have any coded support for submenus in the pages navigation. For now, I just don’t have any submenus because if I do, the nav just becomes a mess since the submenus don’t just show up when hovering over the parent page, etc.

    Does anyone know how to code them so they only appear when hovering over the parent page? A fading javescript animation would be great too.

    Edit: Also, is there a way to have the home link be highlighted when on it? I have it so the pages act like that, but since home isn’t a page, it doesn’t work the same way.
