    Hi,
I have installed multisite and when I go to add a new site and then click on it’s dashboard I get this error message:
    “Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request”

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? A bit of a newbie so please keep it simple ??

I have had a good look around and found this 500 error on several other topics.
One of the things that may be an issue is that my subdomains may not be pointing at a WP install. Not sure how to rectify this but continue to search for the answer. Feel free to jump in if you know ??

In the meantime….just to keep you informed.
I have had a look around on cpanel I could see that in my public_html folders that WP was not installed into any of my addon domains even thought multisite was installed in the main domain root.
As I am working on my own here I thought I would have a go at doing a separate install of WP into my addon domain. This sort of worked, I now have a WP site for that addon domain but I cannot access it from my multisite network.
Whether I have done the right thing or not I have no idea as I am clutching at straws but the original error problem I was getting isn’t there.
I will now look around of how to resolve my current problem or start a new topic.

    andybeckonlocation.andybeckimages.co.uk works now ….

You don’t want to install WP in your add on domains. If the add ons are supposed to be part of the multisite, then they should point to /public_html/ and not /public_html/addon.com

    Hi Ipstenu,
Yes, the reason that the website now works is that I did as I said earlier and did a separate install into that subdomain. That may not have been the right thing to do but I was just giving things a go. Hopefully I can remove these WP installs from the subdomains or add on domains and just be left with the WP install in the public_html and get the required addon domains to point in the right direction. As in the other topic.

Is the ORIGINAL error with the 500 solved? If so, can you please mark this resolved? A new posts per problem is great, but you have to remember to mark ’em fixed ??

    Hi Ipstenu,
I have now resorted to removing the WP install from the sub domain. I have then tried to add the new site to my multisite network and then when I go to dashboard for this site I get this message:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I think I have sorted it out thanks to you Ipstenu,
As you suggested elsewhere, the addon domains were not pointing in the right direction, once amended I was able to add a new site and the 500 error has gone.
    Thank you.
