  • I’ve got the exact same problem! Just one album, 11 jpg-files. Everything is up to date, including WordPress itself.

    Could somebody please help us?

    TIA, Gerrit Bon.

Do you see an insufficient error ? I forget the exact error that appears in the drop box.

Are you using W3Total Cache ? They had a recent update that screws up the drop box, and anything plugin using JavaScript.

Best solution I’ve found is to repair/optimize your databases. If you don’t know how to do than then wait about a week and it’ll start working again.

    I know it’s very frustrating.

Until it works properly again you can use shortcode to display your galleries.

    Good luck.

Thanks for your help doubleSixx. The solution for my problem came from https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/plugin-nextgen-gallery-nextgen-193-plugin-check-fails?replies=5#post-4141100 .

DoubleSixx and gbon – thanks very much for posting potential solutions. It’s a huge help to have NextGEN users helping other users.

Steven – if you come back through this thread, we wouldn’t mind knowing if gbon’s solution also works for you. If not, DoubleSixx’s suggestion to use a short code would provide a short term fix.

I’m going to mark this as resolved for now. If you’re still having the issue, we can change the status again.

    Thanks,
    Erick

@photocrati anytime, always happy to help and contribute.

@photocrati It helped me so maybe it helps others…

The other solutions didn’t help for me but the short code worked okay of course. One thing I am wondering is whether the change of a hosting site may be causing a few issues. I am now having some problems trying to upload pdf documents to our word press site since the change over. It could be a similar thing.

In case this helps anyone, I discovered that an HTTP Compression plugin that my developer had added was causing the exact same problems. So if you’re using a caching plugin, try disabling that and see if it helps. Good luck!

I have exactly the same problem; suddenly the drop down to insert a gallery has stopped working. I’m running WP3.6.1 and NGG 1.9.6 (before you ask I tried NGG 2.0 when it came out, what a nightmare, it was a mess so I’m sticking with 1.9.6).
Admin>gallery>overview>plugin check says ‘Test failed, disable other plugins & switch to default theme’, well I’ve done that, disabled all other plugins and changed to default theme, and it still says it fails.
I’ve tried all the solutions I can find in the forums and none work. Can anyone help please, my client is extremely unhappy!!!
    TIA Kevin
