Adding post with PageLayer

I am very new to WordPress and PageLayer, so bear with me. I’ve watched numerous tutorials and keep getting stuck. When I add a new post to the Blog page and click “Edit with PageLayer,” the new post loses the Blockbase theme format. What am I doing wrong?

Also, is there a way to stick a blog post to the top of the page, so it always is seen first. I don’t want it on the Home page.
