    Good afternoon,
I have finally gotten pretty much everything sorted with my shop, fixed a ton of problems (with your help!) and it’s pretty much how I’d like it, so now I’ve been concentrating on adding new products to the store. This is an all new bag of issues for me, but there’s one thing in particular that is extremely frustrating: Product Attributes.

TLDR: I’d like a way to change how I add attributes on my “add new products page…

I run a postcard shop. Every single product will have 5 main attribute categories – namely Year, Grade, Theme, Type and Size. These never change. Some may have an extra attribute here and there, but those 5 will be on every product.

As it is, to add a product I have to add a title, upload pictures (bit slow there), choose categories, price, SKU, tags. Those steps go fairly quickly. However, when it comes to attributes, that is taking longer by itself than all the rest of the steps, by far. I have to click on the add new, wait for the search box to show my options and then select each attribute category. Then, I have to start typing into the box and wait for it to find any matching terms, and if not found, then add a new one.

What should be about a 2 minute task to add a new product is taking 10+ minutes only because of having to select attributes. With thousands and thousands of postcards to add to the shop, it’s just taking far too long.

I am wondering if there is a way, since I ALWAYS use the same 5 attributes (only the terms change) to have those automatically selected on the add new product page in a specific order rather than having to keep adding each attribute…

Hello @jax2 you can use something like WP Sheets that allows you to add your attributes a lot quicker. It utilizes a spreadsheet format and I myself use it on client sites that have 10k or more products. It’s very robust and might help you out. Give it a shot. They also have a demo I believe or can set one up for you if you ask.

    Hello Jax2,

Thank you for contacting Woo support.

If you are adding products with a lot of attributes, it can be a bit slow process.
I suggest you try using the CSV import method to import products to your site.

This process involves adding products to a CSV file using a spreadsheet app.
Then you import that CSV to the site.

To make it easier, you can export the existing products into CSV.
This will give you a better understanding of which fields to populate with which data.
Then you can add more products under the existing products in the CSV.

I recommend reading this guide for more details.
Let me know if you have any questions.

    Best regards.
