Adding pseudo-element to specific category

  • Hi There,

    I’m not sure if this is event possible – but does anyone know how to target specific categories? What I want to do is place small images (via the pseudo-element) before each category.

    On my single.php page, underneath my title, I’m displaying:
    <? php the_category(); ?>

    And, rightfully so, the categories are listed. However I want a small icon to appear before each one (e.g. if I had a category of ‘Sport’ I want a soccer ball appearing to the left of it)

    If anyone has any hints that’d be good. FYI I’m using the Bones template but have basically coded this things from the bottom up.
