  • I’m pretty new to WP but successfully added an RSS feed to my site by doing this:

Go to your Dashboard. Under Appearance, click Widgets. On the far right, choose the area in which you want your feed to appear and click the drop down next to that area. Find the RSS widget and drag it to that area until a little dashed box appear and place your RSS widget into that dotted box. If the widget didn’t automatically open, click the drop down next to your RSS widget. Now just enter your feed URL, name, and options. Click SAVE and you should be good to go.

Thank you so much, Creolejazz! I have been trying to do that for the last hour but the widgets just would not stay put. I realise that you tip about clicking the sidebar first (even though it appeared to be open) worked perfectly. So thanks. Was getting very frustrated.

Now however the problem is the “feed URL”. Is that just the URL of the site? I tried that but it doesn’t go to anywhere to sign up for notifications.

I’m not an expert but I’m pretty sure your URL will be different from just the site’s URL.

For example, if you want to pull a feed from https://www.ilikethissite.com, the feed URL will be something like https://www.ilikethissite.com/feed.php. You’ll have to check the site for the exactly feed URL.

That’s what worked for me anyway, in my particular case. Good luck.

OK thanks for your input. It didn’t work and I don’t quite know where to go from here but grateful for your help.

Go to the site the feed come from and look for the actual feed link. It should have it there somewhere. Good luck.

Well I fixed it. Just for posterity I will state what I did.

After following creolejazz’ tip about the widget, I used the info in https://codex.www.ads-software.com/WordPress_Feeds

I tested the various links and found that the first one – https://example.com/?feed=rss – actually brought up the page to subscribe to my site. I put that link into the widget and bingo! it works.
