• I have a wordpress site hosted elsewhere. I want to add a second wordpress site with a different domain and I am in the process of adding the second domain as an add on domain with my host.
How do I get started setting up the second site in wordpress with my custom domain? I’m confused because I’m assuming I already have wordpress installed both with my host and on my computer so it seems a bit different to my first set up.
Is this something I should do through my host or through wordpress website?

Do I just need to set up my website through wordpress by mapping my domain? If so do I need to wait until my host has finished adding the new domain as an addon? Sorry I’m a bit confused because I’m pretty sure I didnt need to map the domain when i set up my original website a couple of years ago.

All a WordPress site is is a (MySQL) database and some files.

Some hosts will install WordPress for you. All you have to do is log into the control panel and install it as an add-on, and they create the database for you and put in the files. Then you log in and tweak the options.

Other hosts will have you manage everything. You create the MySQL database. You upload the files. You can find explicit instructions here for how to do that.

Thank you so much for your reply. The control panel in my host has an option to quick install wordpress but since my other site hosted on the same control panel is already a wordpress site i was wondering if that might be either unnecessary or mess things up.
