Adding secondary feed on home page

  • On the homepage of my WordPress site, I’m trying to actually show two feeds at one. I’m using Iconic One theme with a child theme to customize it.

    • Below the navigation menu, I’d like a short horizontal feed with just a thumbnail (250×250 or so) of the featured image, as well as a short snippet of the headline linking to the article’s page. The feed will have three categories: events, featured, and games. It will show the most recent four posts.
    • The second feed is already there, and in place, showing ALL categories. I’m only mentioning this as there in case having two feeds would alter anything needed on the page.

    How would I do this? I can take care of the CSS, etc. Just not how to make the query! Thank you!
