Adding shortcodes and images anywhere on the homepage

Hi everyone,

I have a question and I’ll relate it to my scenario. I could have used this knowledge on many other sites I’ve built.

I have a logo in the top left corner and the header present on my homepage with graphical images as the background, full images.

On the top left corner, I want to display country flags for language translations. I installed the google language translator plugin. It enables me to add a shordode to header.php where it displays on the top but it destroys my entire home…it adds a white bar to the top with the language icons with in that white bar. My homepage backgrounds are colorful and high res images, the white bar destroys my entire theme. I would like to somehow add those icons and make them transparent with my background. Any ideas?

The second scenario – Right below the header on the right side of the screen..I need to add an image OR text. I have no idea how to do this other than editing all of the images in my homepage slider. I’m wondering if there’s a hack or method in order for me to add text or an image to that particular part of my homepage. It’s basically in the mid-top right corner, just below the header so it doesn’t block the header links.
