Adding (side) sidebar

Thanks for using Tracks!

I’ve been getting a lot of requests for this, so I will be adding it as an upgrade soon.

Would you want it showing on all the pages?

I’d love the option to toggle it on the front page as well as posts/pages. Definitely worth buying.

Your theme is amazing and your snippet codebase has saved me so many questions. Thank you!! Fantastic theme, and even better support.

I think I’m going to give the sidebar the following set of display options:

• Posts
• Pages
• Front Page
• Archives
• Blog
• Search results

There will be a checkbox for each that can be switched on/off from the Customizer.

I don’t want to push you, but I am curious:

is there light on the horizont, can you estimate when the sidebar feature will be added?
If it is in near future, there won’t be the need for me to poke in a child theme ;=(

It’s okay, I’m glad you asked. The sidebar upgrade most likely won’t be released for Tracks. There’s not an existing precedent in the design for how it should fit in, and after trying it I decided it was just too complicated to use and customize.

That’s a pity!

As I am changing from a theme where sidebars were available at every post and page, my visitors are used to that and expect it.

I will check what I can do with a static homepage instead of the blog… maybe I will find a solution / layout which will not confuse my users ??
