• Hi

I see I am not the only person experiencing this. I was able to add 3 sites to Wordfence central, but one particular site, same host with one of the other 3 (different account), basically similar components trying to add it always ends at “An error occurred”. No error message regarding exactly whatever is causing this.

It always fails at “Passing public key to Wordfence Central.”
The only plugin I would imagine affecting connection would be the co-currently used Sucuri, but deactivating it does not help.

I have deleted and restarted the process enough times now or tried to “Complete setup”, with similar results. What more can one do and what could be behind this?

    Thank you in advance

  • Hi @xprt007,

Are you running your WordPress site on Windows by any chance?

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

I am experiencing this issue as well and I am on a Chromebook.

    Hi there

Sorry, I had completely forgotten about this.
No, certainly not, my host does not use Microsoft, but Linux servers.
I have just tried again & there’s this recurrent, mysterious connection issue failing at “Passing public key to Wordfence Central.” for ths one site.

    Regards

I am having the same issue with one of my websites hosted on a Linux server

I am having the same issue on a site hosted by cloudflare. Have gone into the firewall and whitelisted the ip address you suggest to whitelist, ( 54.68.32.247 ) to no avail.

    Still blocking connection.

I thought perhaps the issue was with cloudflare, but another website hosted at Godaddy has the same issue.
So I have 27 sites connected to wordfence central, but three just don’t connect and all fail at passing “public key to wordfence central”

    Same problem

    Same issue

    Hi!

I just wanted to give everyone an update – the latest version of Wordfence has a fix in it that should address this problem in most cases. Let us know if you’re still having problems when connecting with the updated version.

It’s still behaving the same for me.

Here’s what happens for me https://cl.ly/cf26d0da0c3e

    Still the same for me….sorry.

All of the sites that are failing at the ‘passing public key’ step are hosted by cloudflare. Are you sure that the ip address that we were supposed to whitelist for cloudflare is the correct one? Could you double check that please?
