Adding slider code to top of adelle theme

I’ve installed plugin https://www.metaslider.com/ and have activated it on my blog but can’t seem to find the right place in the Editor templates to insert the shortcode.

I want it to sit at the top of my latest post on my homepage, next to my sidebar. have made the slider image the right size of 640px, just need to know where to put the code.

Tried putting into into header.php but that put it at the top of the header image, or immediately under the menu bar and left a big gap at the top of the sidebar.

Does anyone know if this is possible? As the homepage is the default ‘latest view’ page it’s not an actual page that I can paste code into.
